Blueberry Margarita
I am from a household that loves their tequila! But the issue I have with most margarita drink recipes is they are super sweet, and I am more of a simple and sour drink girl. One of the best ways to avoid the tooth achingly sweetness is to make a margarita with fresh ingredients. This blueberry margarita will seriously blue you away!
What You’ll Need.
- Carton of Fresh Blueberries
- Limes
- Triple Sec (or any orange liqueur)
- Simple Syrup or Agave
- Sugar or Salt
- Tequila
- Cocktail Shaker
- Ice
- Rocks Glass
It is best to use fresh blueberries for this recipe. I use one full carton of blueberries and pour it into the blender. Add about 2 inches of water to the bottom of the blender to reduce the thickness of the puree. Blend until berries are smooth. Once blended, strain the puree into a bowl to remove any remaining larger pieces of berry. Save the juice and discard the remains in the strainer. In a cocktail shaker, mix: 1/4 cup of the blueberry juice, tequila (I do 3 ounces but adjust for personal taste), 1 ounce of triple sec (can adjust for sweetness), 3 tablespoons of the sweetener of your choice and lime juice. For the lime juice, I squeeze one lime for fresh juice. If prefer store bought lime juice, use about 2 tablespoons.
Rim the rocks glass with the lime, and dip glass in either sugar or salt. I use Himalayan pink salt. Fill glass with ice and pour shaker contents. Garnish with a lime wedge.
