It’s Brittany Bitch Sangria
Sangria is my favorite fruit! It’s basically a fruit salad right?! For my girl Brittany’s birthday this week, I created a fall sangria recipe with apple cider, cinnamon and a little something extra. This red wine sangria is sweet, spicy and just a little bit extra, just like my girl Brittany!
What You’ll Need.
- Apple Cider
- Rose Wine
- Red Wine
- Razz-Cranberry La Croix
- Cinnamon Sticks
- Star Anise
- Pumpkin Pie Spice
- Chili Powder
- Cumin
- Apple
- Orange
- Pitcher or Large Container
- Ice
- Goblet or Wine Glass
Your ingredient measurements will depend on how large of a container you use. These measurements below are for one pitcher, and i tripled it for my large drink dispenser.
The first step is to dice your fruit into cubes; I used a red apple and an orange. After you have cut up all the fruit, place it in the bottom of the pitcher/container. Pour two cups of the apple cider over the fruit. Following the apple cider, add two cups of red wine. Use a burgundy wine, or any other dry red. I use Carlo Rossi, the family style; allows you to make large batches of sangria and an expensive wine is really not needed in this recipe.
Next, add a cup and a half of rose wine. I used a Sangiovese rose but you can use any kind you like. But the subtle hint of orange in this rose definitely complimented well!
Now take a large spoon and mix the three liquids together.
Once your sangria is combined, it is spice time! Add the cinnamon sticks and anise stars as desired; they both give a unique flavor twist with the fruit as it soaks. I suggest to use at least 3 of each. Next, add 1-2 teaspoons of pumpkin spice, cumin and chili powder. Then stir all spices into the sangria.
You can add the La Croix in the pitcher/container, but I personally love the bubbles. I add the La Croix to each glass. Once you have poured your sangria into your glass, leave an inch at the top to add the La Croix Razz-Cranberry.
Throw a cinnamon stick in your glass for a little extra flavor and enjoy!
